Daugavpils is located in the southeast of Latvia. The airfield is located 10 km northeast of the city center. During the Cold War, Daugavpils was an air base of the Soviet Air Force.

  • October 1951 - 1960: Fighter Regiment (MiG-15, MiG-19),
  • 1960 - 1977: Fighter Regiment of the Air Defense (MiG-19, Yak-25, Yak-28P),
  • 1977 - 1981: Fighter Regiment (Yak-28P),
  • 1981 - 1993: Fighter Bomber Regiment (MiG-27M, K, MiG-23UB)
